Flashback February: Day 10, Part 2

(One year ago this month, Pa and I made the trek to China to adopt our sweet Sister Susie. I am going to take the first seventeen days of February 2008 to revisit that trip. Hop in for the ride!)

Our flight across China was uneventful, even with a bunch of tired and hungry babies on board.

Here's one of the big babies right here...

First thing we did at the hotel was get us some grub. And that empty plate there? Nasi Goreng.

De-light-ful indeed. And we haven't found anything as glorious since.

But enough about sticking food down the hatch; let's move on to the meds.

The orphanage clinic sent some liquid medicine for us to give to the Suz to clear up her infection.

Having some way to open the little glass bottles might have been helpful.

But alas, my nurse-friend-and-travel-mate just happened to have some syringes packed away in her bag (thank you!) which I used to draw the liquid out--then squirt in a cup--and finally dump onto the Suz.

Yeah, we stained a lot of shirts that week.

But that's not all!

We also had these little packets of powder, which did an amazing job of making me feel like a drug dealer:

Yeah, that was supposed to be "mixed" with water, and "drank" by the Suz as well.

By some miracle, she did get past the pneumonia, inept parents and all.

But it came to be worth it, as these started to appear:

Smiles! For us!

Mostly I think she was just laughing and enjoying the Ma and Pa show.

Country Come Ta Town.
