(One year ago this month, Pa and I made the trek to China to adopt our sweet Sister Susie. I am going to take the first seventeen days of February 2008 to revisit that trip. Hop in for the ride!)

Our guide told us that many Chinese couples choose to rent a BMW to drive around for their wedding "parade." Why? Because "BMW" stands for "Be My Wife."
Hmmmphf. Clever folks, that they are.
And speaking of happy celebrations, we were in China right before the start of the New Year Celebration, which made for some awesome decorations and "holiday" kinds of moods:
Speaking of acting like goof balls, here is one of our travel mates, the brother to one of the newly adopted girls:
At this particular restaurant (where we were displaying our classiest American behavior), the mom of this young man asked the waitresses taking our order, "What is your specialty?"
[We stumped them. First there was a big pause. Then--lots of conferring going on in the corner. Soon, they came back with an answer.]
"Our Special Teas are ..." and they went on to tell us all about the different kinds of tea that we could order to drink.
Pa, the Linguist, was the first to figure it out.
And then, we laughed and laughed at the "specialties."
